Make Yourself Koozie

The humble but reliable beer koozie—or cozy or coosie (or variations far beyond)—has for decades kept drinks cool even in its flimsiest form. In a 2013 study in Physics Today, researchers found that, in hot and humid conditions, condensation and latent heating effects became the major cause of that less-than-frosty beverage. One of the authors (sagely) touted koozies for both insulating AND preventing condensation. Toward the fancy end: Yeti has a $30 double-walled Colster, and RTIC sells a similar half-priced option. Or snag a free one at a festival. The key is there’s a koozie for you. –Ken Weaver
