bruges-beer-pipelinebrewery in Bruges, Belgium, has proposed a creative solution to shipping its beer: moving it underground. The city of Bruges has approved plans by De Halve Maan Brewery to build an underground beer pipeline that can move 6,000 liters (about 1,500 gallons) of beer per hour in a pipeline spanning three kilometers (1.8 miles), De Halve Maan CEO Xavier Vanneste told Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad. It’s a win-win for the city, too: The pipeline, which runs from the brewery in the city center to its bottling facility on the outskirts, will reduce congestion and carbon emissions.
