What’s in a name, light? It’s not light as in color, or flavor—it’s got plenty of both. A deep golden robe with a long-lasting head of tan bubbles gives “heavy” beers a run for the money. Fresh and flavorful barley dominates on the palate with just enough hops to balance the taste. Not a beer to be taken lightly, it’s perfect after a bike ride, or as a mid-day pick-me-up. I can assume that the light refers to alcohol, but regrettably, the label fails to tell me so.

Perhaps the light amber color is making me imagine a slight caramel aroma. Regardless, it is clean and light in aroma. Light in body, refreshing with an explosion of carbonation. Thirst quenching with a difference—it has some flavor! And a balanced drinkability as a bonus. If you’re into light beer, you’ll like this. If you’re into some character in a light beer, you also like this. Worth your attention!

I put a bottle in the fridge before cutting the grass and an hour later this really hit the spot. It’s not a profound or complex beer, but its Vienna Red color and biscuity, nutty aroma and hint of hop resins are appealing. The palate is dry and malt-dominated. The finish fades fast but there is sufficient juicy malt and bitter hops to linger on the back of the throat. Not a beer to die for, but should prove popular with gardeners.
