An old favorite. It is still bottle-conditioned and pours beautifully with spicy aromatics that beg to be sampled. The beer is rich and full bodied—almost thick—on the palate, with a soft, mellow spicy aftertaste, which enhances one’s pleasure. Satisfying and enjoyable. A memorable gem from Belgium.

I have fond memories of this gorgeous old brewery in Opwijk, Belgium. The beer is a deep hazy gold and raises a nice fluffy head. Sweet spices and citrus fruits dance in the aroma. The medium-bodied beer at first makes a slightly acidic impression and them a sweet one, finally drying through an elegant fruity center. The finish is brisk and dry. This beer seems much improved of late-- very tasty. It would be great with grilled salmon.

Huge head. Warm, sunny, orangey color. Orangey aroma, too—more peel than fruit. Medium-to-full body. Slippery and sensuous. Orange again in the palate: this time, it’s the zest. Then banana, strawberries and pepper. Some garden-mint hoppiness, too Those spicy, herbal notes prevent it from being cloying. Instead, it is refreshing and summery.
