Brewed in honor of BridgePort Brewing Company’s 20th anniversary, Ropewalk Amber Ale is based on the original BridgePort Ale recipe from 1984. The name honors our building’s roots as a rope factory, also known as a ropewalk.

Great color. Great head. Great sound. What a way to present a beer. Rich aromatics and pleasing bouquet lead the way, and that’s very nice, too. BridgePort has produced a delightful session beer to celebrate their 20 years in business. It’s nice to meet a beer that will serve us for the long evening’s conversation and companionship that lies ahead. You don’t have to drink just one!
The beer has a beautiful deep copper color and raises a sturdy tan head. The aroma is a little odd—malt and caramel combine with a meaty tropical fruit reminiscent of ripe papaya. The palate is soft and lightly sweet, with hops in a supporting role. Smooth, juicy malts glide across the tongue and the beer finishes cleanly. An elegant and restrained East-coast-style beer from a west coast brewery better known for hops. Stoke up the grill and get those burgers going.
Lovely color; dark amber-red, crimson highlights. Earthy, nutty aroma. Hazelnuts and sweet poached plums. Sweet Darjeeling tea. Perhaps sweet pipe tobacco, too. Creamy body and more fruit in the palate, developing cocoa powder and slightly burnt toast. Suddenly falls away in a weak finish, the color and aroma promised a cozy winter warmer: the promise was not fulfilled.
