If most IPAs can withstand a journey to India, Avery could make it to Mars. From the nose, to the taste, to the aftertaste, this beer is Humulus lupulus forward! The aroma is complex, sweet and with an acidic hop foreplay so sensual that the beer would probably be banned in the Bible Belt. This voluptuous blond may have a little too much perfume, but after the first kiss, her body is so firm, you hardly notice.

Warm, sunny color. Sexy hop aroma, like fresh sweat. Piney: a walk in the forest. Oily, in both bouquet and palate. Bath oil? Firm, smooth, muscular body. Soothing, caressing, relaxing. Very long, then drying. Things happen after a Badedas bath.

A beer of some contradiction, surprisingly light looking (golden, hints of copper) with a fluffy white head. Not particularly “big” (1.058) for the style, yet has solid malt underpinnings, much needed in bracing for an upcoming hop attack. Giant floral nose of grapefruit and pine. Plenty of citrus flavors, more grapefruit and orange, the hop coarseness adding texture. Bitter from the first swallow to well beyond the last sip, then dry (almost a relief). Brewer Adam Avery likes to talk about “statement” beers—the message here is hops rather than balance.
