This is an American interpretation of a Bavarian Hefeweizen—unfiltered wheat beer. It has a hazy gold color with a thin collar of foam, followed by creamy malt on the nose with hints of banana and herbs. Quenching and delicious citrus fruit dominates the mouth, balanced by tangy hops and juicy malt. The long, dry and refreshing finish is balanced between malt, fruit and light hop notes. Superb.

This beer has a splendid head (delightfully talkative) with a wonderful aromatic invitation. The beer actually has a bit more bitterness than expected from type, although that is well managed. Moreover, that impact relaxes as one sips an ever-more-seductive beer.

Not as hefe-handed, with the clove and banana flavors found in German-style wheat beers. This beer utilizes a yeast strain that allows the beer’s other ingredients to shine—serving up notes of vanilla-laced malt, plum and a hint of green apple skin. There’s a yeasty character throughout, and the beer finishes pleasingly dry.
