Creative label and bottle. Deep coffee color, not quite opaque - has a cocoa colored head of big bubbles. Fantastic, slightly funky nose lets you know up front, this is a smokey beer. Rich round flavors coat the palate with malt though the smokey flavors dominate. At first I thought it was too smoky, but served with a smoked pork cheek with a chipolte sauce, I had no trouble finishing a bottle and wanting more. Clean aftertaste.

I could state the obvious, so I will, “Holy smokes.” Rich creamy pour and a brown creamy topping to a very deep dark mysteriously complex brew. Distinctive characters of alder and apple wood smoke, blend in nicely with tons of malt character and just enough hops to make a perfect balance. Acidity of dark malts and personality of smoke promise greatfood pairings or stand alone drinkability. It’s a heavenly smoked porter.
