(Press Release)

LITTLETON, Colo.—Breckenridge Brewery announces its partnership with Freedom Service Dogs of America in the brewery’s tour and tasting donation program.  Breckenridge started the community giving program when it opened its new brewery in Littleton, Colorado, in June. Through this initiative the brewery donates one dollar from each public paid tasting tour over a six month period to a local charity.

South Suburban Park Foundation (SSPF) was the brewery’s first partner in the program.  From the program kick-off in late June through the end of December, and with the help of thousands of folks who enjoyed inaugural brewery tours, Breckenridge raised $7,500 for SSPF.  The non-profit foundation does great work in the community by creating and developing trails and greenways benefiting the south metro communities of Denver.  As part of its trail network, SSPF maintains the Mary Carter Greenway trail to the west of the brewery, which has become a popular route for thirsty bikers and walkers to reach the beer garden, Farm House restaurant, and brewery tours.

With its 6-month rotation, the program transitions to Freedom Service Dogs (FSD).  The Englewood-based non-profit organization custom trains dogs to assist people with disabilities.  All of the dogs come from shelters and rescue groups.  They are taught to open doors, pick up items, pull wheelchairs, go for help, turn on lights, and know more than 50 other commands.  The organization is funded by charitable giving and does not charge its clients.  FSD maintains contact with its clients to provide annual recertification for the service dogs and to give hands-on support in new skill development.

“We are so grateful to be partnering with Breckenridge Brewery through the tour and tasting donation program,” states FSD interim director, Evon Holladay. “Donations are the lifeblood of our service dog training program, allowing us to continue our mission of increasing the independence of people living with disabilities by matching them with custom-trained service dogs.”

Breckenridge Brewery tours are available Thursday through Monday, four times a day.  The tours cost $3 for those 21 and over wishing to sample beer, and they include a 45-minute tour with ample time before and after to enjoy samples and camaraderie.  Non-drinkers, including those under 21, are welcome to participate in tours, and there is no charge.  The tours accommodate 20 patrons at a time, so reservations are recommended through the brewery’s website at http://breckbrew.com/about/tours.
