(Cleveland, OH) – As a longtime supporter of West Side Market, Great Lakes Brewing Company (GLBC) proudly presents Butcher’s Brew, a Kulmbacher-style lager brewed exclusively for West Side Market’s Centennial Celebration.

Butcher’s Brew, named through a collaborative social media effort by GLBC, Ohio City Incorporated, and The West Side Market, is a tawny, toasty

Kulmbacher-style lager with lightly roasted malt character and subtle hop aromas. GLBC brewers note that this style would have been popular during the Market’s early years, and it speaks to the city’s ethnic heritage.

Butcher’s Brew is packaged in a commemorative screen printed 22-ounce bottle. Its artwork, designed by Christine Wisnieski, depicts the stone sculpture of an ox, whose head peers over the peak of the Market. Each bottle was hand-bottled by GLBC brewers.

“Having been neighbors and buyers of various foods from West Side Market for four years as well as serving as a favorite watering hole for thirsty workers and patrons of the Market, it just seemed right that we help the neighborhood and city toast to another 100 years of success of this nationally recognized institution,” says GLBC co-owner Pat Conway.

Each guest at The West Side Market’s November 3 Centennial Gala will receive a gift bag including the commemorative 22-ounce bottle.
