(Press Release)

BOSTON—Put your tray tables down and tear open that shiny bag of tiny pretzels, UFO White is on board! Boston-based Harpoon Brewery is pleased to announce that cans of its popular UFO White, a white ale brewed with coriander and orange peel, is now available for purchase on all domestic JetBlue flights.

“We started packaging our beer in cans in 2010 because we wanted to be able to bring our beer to more places – hiking, the beach, boating. We’re thrilled that we’re now able to enjoy UFO White in the air,” says Dan Kenary, Harpoon CEO and co-founder. “JetBlue has been a wonderful partner. We think drinking beer is fun, they think flying is fun. Flying JetBlue just got a lot more fun for beer lovers!”

To celebrate the introduction of UFO White cans on JetBlue, Harpoon representatives will host a tasting at the JetBlue terminal (T5) at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport on March 26th and 27th from noon until 7:00 pm. Harpoon will provide traveling beer lovers samples of their flagship IPA, spring seasonal The Long Thaw White IPA, and UFO White. Featured food and Harpoon beer pairings will be offered at surrounding restaurants. A beer snack tasting will be provided by popular Brooklyn baker Ovenly onThursday, March 26th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

UFO White is brewed in the tradition of spiced wheat beers that originated in Belgium more than 300 years ago.  Staying true to the style, Harpoon brewers add freshly ground orange peel and coriander to the whirlpool to give the beer a slightly sweet, delicately spiced flavor and aroma.  A combination of Pale, Wheat, and Carapils malts provides a slightly sweet, bready malt body, adding depth to the beer.  True to its name (UFO = UnFiltered Offering) the beer remains unfiltered, which highlights the Harpoon house yeast’s distinctive fruity esters. It is a refreshing take on a traditional style that pairs deliciously with a salty bag of pretzels.

UFO White Brewer’s Notes:
Appearance:     hazy, golden yellow
Aroma:          strong aroma of coriander and orange
Mouth feel:     on the sweeter side of wheat beers
Taste:          orange-y, sweet, cracker-y wheat
Finish:                 light on the palate, quenching
