(Press Release)

BALTIMORE, MD—On Friday, January 16, 2015, Senator Ben Cardin, using a cutlass sword, cut the ribbon to present the new Heavy Seas brew house. The Senator and Heavy Seas founder, Hugh Sisson, were joined by many guests including other political leaders, investors, bankers, media representatives, distributors, brewery employees, and friends and family. This ribbon cutting ceremony and reception also marked the 20th year for Heavy Seas Beer, formally known as Clipper City Brewing Company.

Also in celebration, a cannon was fired inside the brewery right after the ribbon cutting. The event continued with pints of Heavy Seas beers including the new year-round, CrossBones Session IPA, and the new seasonal, Deep Six English-style porter. The Heavy Seas Alehouse catered the reception with delicious appetizers including sausage sliders, crab dip with tater tots, beef chili, and their well-known seasoned nuts and popcorn.

A ribbon cutting ceremony for a new brew house also marked the 20th year for Heavy Seas Beer, formally known as Clipper City Brewing Company.

The new brew house is now fully operating and taking the brewery from producing 200 barrels of beer a day to almost 500 barrels a day, which increases the production capacity by 250%. The term “brew house” refers to the equipment that is used to produce wort, which becomes beer during fermentation.

Since this event officially kicked off the start to Heavy Seas’ 20th year, stay tuned for more celebratory events throughout 2015.
