RALEIGH, N.C. – Mims Distributing Company (http://www.mimsdist.com), a beer distributor that services a nine-county area in and around the Triangle, has announced that it will serve as a Gold Hope Sponsor for the 24th annual Thad and Alice Eure Walk for Hope to be held Sunday, Oct. 14 at the Angus Barn on U.S. Highway 70. The event, which includes a 5K and 10K run that starts at 8 a.m. and a walk that starts at 10 a.m., raises money and community awareness for the research and treatment of mental illness being overseen by the Foundation of Hope. The Foundation of Hope provides financial support for ongoing and new research, treatment, and the development of researchers at Dorothea Dix Hospital, the University of North Carolina and its affiliated psychiatric institutions, and local mental health agencies. Mims Distributing Company was one of the original sponsors of the Walk of Hope in 1988.
“The Walk for Hope promotes scientific research aimed at discovering the causes and potential cures for mental illness, and it benefits those in our community who need improved treatment for this condition that affects one out of four families,” said Chip Mims, CEO. “It is a most worthy cause that we are proud to have supported over the years, as well as a fun event for people to enjoy with food and prizes at the end of the walk. We encourage everyone in the Triangle to contribute to this effort as best as they can.”
