(St. Louis, MO) – O’Fallon Brewery, brewers of 5-Day IPA and other award-winning craft beers, will launch its new summer seasonal beer, Kite Tail Summer Ale, April 23.

Kite Tail is a crisp, refreshing cream ale with a light body and slightly tart finish.  O’Fallon brewmasters started with two-row barley and white wheat to establish a smooth maltiness and light body.  They then added Marynka and Lublin hops to give Kite Tail its crisp, but subtle tartness and refreshing character.  The result is refreshing cream ale perfect for summer.

“Cream ale is often a misunderstood style, and it’s something we’ve wanted to brew for a long time,” said Brian Owens, O’Fallon’s head brewer.  “Kite Tail is a classic cream ale so it’s crisp and refreshing, but it’s also flavorful and complex.  It’s really a great beer for a variety of occasions, and I think beer drinkers are going to really embrace it.”

Kite Tail is O’Fallon’s first new brand since the company was purchased by former Anheuser-Busch executive, Jim Gorczyca, in 2011.  Kite Tail will begin arriving at retailers April 23 and will be available in six packs (12-ounce bottles) and kegs (1/6 and ½ barrels) throughout the summer.

“While many craft brewers are battling it out to brew the hoppiest beer imaginable, we wanted to take a different approach,” said Gorczyca, O’Fallon’s owner and president.  “Kite Tail is almost reminiscent of lagers, but it has a signature, crisp flavor which we feel is going to be really exciting for craft beer drinkers this summer.”

Kite Tail Summer Ale is 4.5 percent alcohol by volume (ABV) and will be priced at parity to other O’Fallon brands.  The brand will be distributed throughout Missouri, Colorado, Alabama, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Wisconsin and will be supported with sign-making, point-of-sale materials and retail display enhancers.

The O’Fallon Brewery is a small craft brew located in St. Charles County just northwest of St. Louis, Missouri.  The company began brewing and selling beer in 2000, leading with its flagship brand, O’Fallon Gold.  Today O’Fallon brews O’Fallon Gold, 5-Day IPA, Hemp Hop Rye, Wheach and Smoked Porter which won a Gold Medal at the 2004 Great American Beer Festival.  The brewery also brews seasonal beers including Kite Tail Summer Ale; O’Fallon Pumpkin Beer; O’Fallon Black Hemp, O’Fallon Cherry Chocolate and Cocoa Cream Stout.  O’Fallon occasionally brews specialty beers such as John O’Fallon Irish Red (draught only) and Belgian Dark Strong (BDS) which was aged in French oak Port barrels for more than a year.
