Are like Gremlins: We’re pretty much afraid of the daylight and we clamor to be fed especially after midnight when we’ve been drinking. But the main difference is, it’s not water that makes us multiple, but beer. The more beer there is, the more we multiple. Among the beer-focused sites populating the blog-o-sphere, Wikio ranks the Top 100 monthly, bit Zephyr Adventure’s list compiled nearly a thousand. A few are missing. Some would say there are way too many, as Andy Crouch once blogged about. Whether or not beer blogging waters down beer journalism isn’t really the issue, since it’s dubious that one threatens to replace the other. Zephyr would welcome even more, in no small part because they organize the Beer Bloggers Conference, now in its second year.

With craft breweries popping up nearly every day, it stands to reason that new beer blogs (and twitterers) would do likewise. Someone to champion each hometown brewery. Clearly, brewing companies value them because some hire internal or external marketers to solicit devotees.

So do beer blogs serve a purpose or are they a waste of virtual real estate? Do you read beer blogs or find them redundant? Do they serve a valuable function or are merely binary soapboxes reviewing and rambling in the wind?
