Dogfish Head Craft Brewery
It’s a brilliantly golden lager, but it’s not the kind you’re thinking of. Ultimately there is that crisp finish, but before we get to that bit, there is a lot more going on with this beer. There’s the near-syrupy mouthfeel, the slight alcohol heat, and the general chewiness that makes a big impression with the first mouthful. Faint flavors of honey, fig, deep sun-ripened grapes, melon, and so much more. It’s a beer that evolves, like tracks on a record. Dogfish made this beer with 10 different kinds of grain, and 10 different varieties of hops. It’s not a jumble of flavors, however, but rather a continuous harmony with many different parts playing as one. Ultimately it’s a sneaky lager that’ll put you down for the count if you’re not paying attention.
