Blonde AleMarch 1, 2008 Orlando, FL
Orlando Brewing Co. is Florida’s only certified organic brewery with beers containing “99% organic ingredients.”
Original Gravity: 1040
Pop. Pfssst. A pressure-reduced fog subsides within the bottle. Pour. Swirl. A moment to rest. Head subsides, a light lace on the side. A blonde’s blonde brew. Pleasant organic aroma. Subtle malt. No hops. Body medium. Pleasant refreshing taste, but the flavor emerges more in the aftertaste. Quite nice. A hot weather brew with enough hop and malt character to quench and create interest for another. Well brewed. Well balanced. Nice job.

The watery golden color suggests that this organic ale is going to be light in body, and that’s confirmed by the first sip. Grainy, malty notes in the nose carry on through into the taste, but are always losing out to a dominant dryness. Interesting peachy, floral notes picked up in the aroma also return before the dry, bitter finish, but I can’t help thinking that, for a beer from The Sunshine State, this is lacking a little warmth. The flavors are distinct and clean, but I’m crying out for some citrus sparkle.
