This is a bold beer described as a farmhouse-style wheat ale, hazy yellow in color. The aroma is suitably bready and spicy for a wheat beer, with an orange zestiness, while the taste falls just on the bitter side of bittersweet, with oranges and cloves leading the way and a touch of astringency behind. The finish is soundly bitter, dry and a little chalky, with bitter herbs lingering on the palate. It’s warming, too. Everything is in place here, but for me the alcohol is a little too obvious.

A Spanish interpretation of a sour beer: pale gold with a slight haze and a pungent aroma of yeast, sourdough bread, bitter lemon fruit and a hint of grassy hops. The beer has a sweet palate to start, with a nutty note, but the acidic character returns to dominate with tart lemon fruit and yeast and fresh dough. The finish is sharp, acidic, challenging with a powerful bitter lemon attack, balanced by grain and a delicate hint of peppery hops. A refreshing and rewarding beer.
