Cinnamon Horchata

Denver

TYPE OF BEER: Ale with cinnamon

ABV: 5.5%

APPEARANCE: Straw yellow with a thin white head.

AROMA: Even though this has been chilling for days, I immediately think of a warm churro. Fleshy, spongy sweet dough with a hint of vanilla and coconut and a kick of cinnamon sugar.

MOUTHFEEL: It’s creamy with moderately low carbonation, so it slides down the throat like silk. Mouth coating and full, it’s very close to being called luscious.

TASTE: Here’s where all the aromas come together but there also seems to be a bit of lime zest flicking around the background.

OVERALL IMPRESSION: This is a dessert beer all the way. It’ll satisfy those churro cravings, or go remarkably well in a beer ice cream float (pumpkin, vanilla, your choice). It’s also a fun mash-up of traditions and looks to a food culture that can be often overlooked in beer, except for all those beers that add hot peppers to the tank.
