Clouded Dream
Utica and Buffalo, NY
TYPE OF BEER: Ale with spices
ABV: 7.3%
APPEARANCE: Hazy amber, almost copper with a fluffy-cloud white head.
AROMA: Sweet cereal grain, like grape nuts and a dose of earthy hops.
MOUTHFEEL: Fairly thin, almost watery with a medium carbonation and finishing dry.
TASTE: This is where the hops push through, some resin, a bit of earthy field. There is a burnt orange peel and some spice like coriander, but not in the prominent way that other wits present the spice.
OVERALL IMPRESSION: I get the impression that this is trying to be a Belgian-style wit, but with a bit more hop content. It’s a little muddled where no flavor or aroma dominates. It’s fine for a warm afternoon or evening after a long day. It won’t challenge your senses, but will be fine company.
