This is the first of the Big Beer Series to come out of Smuttynose’s new brewing facility in Hampton, NH. First thing I notice when pouring this German inspired liquid is the clarity. Crystal clear deep golden in color with a substantial bright white rocky head. I pick up some interesting juicy fruit aromas, grape and apple predominantly with some citrus underneath. Pine and citrus hops shine through unlike the nose would suggest. This works very well with the lager yeast, as the bright hoppy flavors lead uninterrupted into a dry, crisp and clean finish.
