I bought this bottle of Tranquair‘s Jacobite in 2000 and saw that the expiration date said, “expires 2010.”I know beer enthusiasts who are into aging beer see that date as “best after” not “best before.” This beer, brewed to celebrate the Jacobite rebellion in in 1745, has a very fruity flavor with lots of raisins and coriander. The aged verision, as many aged beers tend to be, is much more complex with the flavors overlapped and less pronounced but still there. This is a great beer for a cold winter day by the fire. If you can keep your hands off of it for five to ten years it’ll be even better.
