You can smell Mojo coming before it catches you — the big hop-forward aroma seems to fill a room. The light, white head dissipates quickly and belies the marathon of hops that dwell beneath the surface. Grapefruit and piney flavors abound, and the hops just keep comin’ — even after the last sip.

Well-hopped IPAs may be common in the US these days but, for many drinkers across the pond, it still comes as a shock to discover beers like Mojo. Don’t get me wrong: I love the deep, oily, sappy character of the hops, the zesty orange peel and tropical fruit notes, and also the tangy burn as you swallow, but I have had plenty of experience of this kind of brew. For me, this one is a full-value, fresh, inviting, satisfying beer with enough sweet malt support to prevent it becoming too much of a hop indulgence.
