The sixteenth beer in Terrapin‘s “Side Project” series, this French Oak-aged American Ale pours a dark chestnut with a deep amber head. The beer is lightly carbonated, and upon first sip, burnt molasses envelopes notes of wood.

Phlux Capacitor has hints of dried stone fruit, and a faint licorice, or anise flavor peeks through in this complex beer, which is reminiscent of an old ale. But after embracing its dark roasted backbone, a sharp bite in the finish separates it from the traditional cloying nature of stock ales.

Phlux Capacitor, clocking in at 9.7 percent ABV, is available in 22-oz. bottles in Terrapin’s distribution area.
