Shotgun Betty is sure enough a straight shot, right to the nose with a pretty perfume that is hard to resist, all peaches and bubble gum. Color her pure gold like a slightly tarnished rodeo belt buckle, good looking with depth. She has a great head, but damn, it goes as fast as it comes, leaving a clean body, just right for exploring. She’s a little thin, but plenty voluptuous where it counts, up front with a sassy sweetness that keeps you begging for more, and a long-lasting yeasty aftertaste, clean and comforting. She’s swell au naturel, but all dressed up with brats and kraut, she’s a keeper.
- Charles Finkel
A classic visual and aromatic presentation of this south German style of wheat beer. Aroma and flavor have a balance of banana and clove, with sweet malty notes and a hop bitterness that stimulates the taste buds. One of the best-balanced American-brewed hefeweizens I’ve encountered. This is a style of beer that is difficult to perfect; the brewpeople at Lonerider have gotten it right. Classic and worth your visit if you love Bavarian hefe.
