Congratulations to North Coast for 25 years of good beers. Close to perfection, their Jubilee is pure gold, with a lovely contrasting tight head of foam. I love the yeasty nose hinted with honey and rich malty and spicy flavor, a fullness of palate and just the right dryness to go with food. We enjoyed it with mussels and pomme frits, finished with fococcia and a triple cream cheese.
- Charles Finkel
I remember laughing with Mark Ruedrich in his Mk1 brewery when he told me that the site was a former mortuary. Can it really be 25 years since he went into business? He was always in it for the long run, and this is more than a serious beer—it is outstanding. “Farmhouse beer” " is American for the Belgian style saison. I never thought of “exciting” as a taste descriptor for it until now: Strawberry-honey aroma. Whipped cream head. Sunny color. Champagne bead. Gin-like oiliness of body. Flavor development as fast as a streamlined express train: honeydew melon, raspberries, freshly squeezed lemon, hitting the buffers with a whack of hop bitterness. Dizzying, appetizing, refreshing.
