SweetWater Brewing Company never fails to deliver a conversation piece. How delighted we were to see another installment from their Dank Tank Series, this one called Magnum IP, show up at the office. As noted in another recent review, “imperial” beers are a popular stylistic connotation as of late. While the application of such adjectives is subjective, SweetWater does not fail in delivering a big, hunk of a beer. It pours a confident blonde bronze, much like the objects of Magnum‘s affection, and offers a thin to no head for any push broom I might be sporting. It’s snappy, surly, and quick to the punch with its apricot palate, little to no nose and copper metallic finish. I found this crisp, medium bodied beer with its Sterling and Cascade hops best served closer to room temperature than straight from the fridge. This limited release beer (500 cases of 22 oz bottles and 50 kegs) can only be found at select tap rooms and retailers across the south east.
