Wilde Child Instant HoboDecember 1, 2016
Wilde Child Brewing Co.Instant Hobo
Leeds, United Kingdom Style: Bourbon Imperial Stout ABV: 9%
A new release brewed with eight types of malt and two European hop varieties.
A bourbon imperial stout, deftly done, presenting a generous, tightly bubbled head on top of near-black liquid and an aroma that is smooth, biscuity and chocolaty, with just a touch of bourbon and a hint of leather. The taste is soft and unctuous, delicately warming the palate and treating it to flavors of coffee, bourbon, dark-chocolate truffle and a little overripened fruit. The swallow leaves a warming glow, and then bitter roasted grains push through, bringing more coffee. Bourbon lingers—but without an intrusive spirit note— in the substantial finish. Another beer from Yorkshire, from the city of Leeds, with a long brewing heritage. Wilde Child is a new micro that started in the owner’s garage and has upgraded to a commercial plant. His 9% stout delivers rich roasted, toasted and caramel aromas and flavors with an unmistakable warming belt of honeyed bourbon whiskey. The beer is not aged in whiskey casks, but the liquor is added during the brewing process, delivering notes of sweet grain, vanilla, oak and smoke.
