Belgian brewing major Anheuser-Busch InBev has developed a new craft beer – Bud Light Platinum – which has 6 percent ABV and offers 137 calories. Compared to Bud Light Platinum, Anheuser-Busch’s Bud Light has 4.2 percent ABV with 110 calories, while Budweiser features 5 percent ABV with 145 calories, reported Los Angeles Times.

Bud Light Platinum, a long-germinating beer concept from Anheuser-Busch InBev that’s not quite Bud Light and not really Budweiser, will hit stores in January next year, the company said.

Anheuser-Busch said the new beer is meant to appeal to a key group of beer drinkers and expand consumer occasions to drink beer.

According to the Brewers Association trade group, overall US beer sales by volume slipped 1 percent last year whereas the craft beer industry grew 11 percent.

Anheuser-Busch also said that its North American beer sales slipped 3.2 percent in the third quarter this year and that it had increased its prices by an average of 3 percent.
