(Press Release)

PORTLAND, OR—Widmer Brothers Brewing announced today that Hopside Down India-Style Pale Lager (IPL) will return to the lineup as the brewery’s new spring seasonal. Hopside Down is aggressively hopped for all the flavor and aroma of a traditional IPA, but cold-fermented with lager yeast for the crisp, clean character and finish of a lager. The hybrid style is a great fit for the spring season – hoppy and refreshing.

Hopside Down IPL was most recently available early last year and was the best-selling release in the brewery’s now-retired Rotator IPA Series. Widmer Brothers is now introducing Hopside Down IPL as its new spring seasonal for 2015, replacing Columbia Common, which had been the spring seasonal for the prior two years.HopsideDown_IMG_1140

“We are really looking forward to having Hopside Down back in our lineup,” said Rob Widmer, co-founder of Widmer Brothers. “Hopside Down is a delicious beer, and it’s perfect for spring. The beer features a heavy dose of Cascade hops. and the clean, crisp attributes of the lager yeast really allows the grapefruity-lemony-citrusy character of Cascades to shine through.”

This new addition to Widmer Brothers’ seasonal line-up will be available across the country on-draught, and in six- and 12-packs. Hopside Down IPL can be found using the Widmer Brothers beer finder at widmerbrothers.com/find-beer.

About Widmer Brothers Brewing
Founded in 1984, Widmer Brothers Brewing is celebrating 30 years of beer in 2014 and into 2015. Founders Kurt and Rob Widmer helped lead the Pacific Northwest craft beer movement in 1984 when, in their 20s, they began brewing unique interpretations of traditional German beer styles. In 1986, Widmer Brothers Brewing introduced the original American-style Hefeweizen, which elevated the brewery to national acclaim. Since then, Hefe has grown to become Oregon’s favorite craft beer and the brewery has continued to push the boundaries, developing a variety of beers with an unapologetic, uncompromised commitment to innovation.

Based in Portland, Ore., the brewery currently brews a variety of award-winning beers including Hefe, Upheaval IPA, Alchemy Pale Ale, Drop Top Amber Ale, a full seasonal lineup, and a series of limited edition beers. For more information about Widmer Brothers Brewing, visit www.widmerbrothers.com.
