LONGMONT, Colo. and BREVARD, N.C.

WHAT: This last weekend at least twelve tornadoes hit Northern Texas, killing 11 and destroying thousands of homes. In immediate response, Oskar Blues Brewery and Ball Corporation teamed up with the CAN’d Aid Foundation to quickly can and ship clean drinking water to victims of the tornado ravaged state of Texas. Ball Corp. donated all cans to be filled with water. An initial shipment of 16,800 cans of fresh water arrived in Rackwell, TX on December 29th and an additional 50,400 cans are slated to arrive on Monday.

WHEN: Oskar Blues Brewery employees worked to can 7 pallets of water out of its brewery in Brevard, North Carolina. Canning will continue into the weekend and as needed to help the citizens of North Texas. Deliveries of the first drinking water arrived late December 29th and more than 50,000 cans will arrive in Rackwell, TX on Monday, January 4th.

WHY: Devastating storms hit Northern Texas last weekend – killing 11 and destroying thousands of homes. In an effort to step up and help those in immediate need, Oskar Blues and the CAN’d Aid Foundation are working to supply water to families and emergency relief workers in the area.

CAN’d Aid, the do-goodery arm of Oskar Blues Brewery, is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that was started by Dale Katechis – soul founder of Oskar Blues Brewery. What started as a response to the 2013 floods in Colorado (where over $700,000 was raised to support small businesses and families in need), has evolved into an irreverent nonprofit that is doin’ good its own way across the United States.

In October 2015, Oskar Blues announced plans to build a brewery and new music venue in Austin, TX, calling Texas home for the brewery.

Where: Rackwell, TX, epicenter of relief efforts and where clean water is being delivered. In addition, CAN’d Aid has joined forces with All Hands Volunteers to support their grassroots approach to immediate disaster response in the hardest hit areas. This partnership was initiated during the 2013 ColoRADo floods and continued this past fall in the wake of the South Carolina floods when 30 Oskar Blues and CAN’d Aid employees traveled from Brevard, NC to work with AHV mucking & gutting homes in Georgetown, SC.
