I recently met a woman on the verge of turning 80 who said she picks up 3-4 new beers every time she goes to the store.

I almost want to stop right there. But this isn’t about her; it’s about you.

You love craft beer. You check-in every time you hit a brewpub or beer bar, locally or on the road. You even read beer magazines and blogs. What would you like to get better at that would make you an even better beer ambassador?

Homebrewing? Are you still using the basic starter kit you got for Christmas and are ready to step it up? Certified Ciccerone? Friends turn to you for selecting the perfect beer when you dine out but little do they know you’ve just scratched the surface? Simple appreciation? You love a wide variety of styles but there are those you just can’t get down with? For me that is Helles and almost anything named for a color. Have you visited every brewery in your state? Maybe it’s personal, like keeping your inner beer snob from being an outer one by welcoming more people to the craft beer table instead of excluding them?

Beer enhancement is a never-ending journey. It doesn’t end once you think you’ve dialed-in the perfect IPA recipe or found the perfect, unchanging group of buddies to welcome over for bottle-sharing nights in the man cave. And while I still haven’t met a Blonde or Amber (or non-imperial Red) that I dig on, I do love Browns.

So there’s hope for me yet.

Think you are on the beer road for life? What will you sound like preaching the gospel by the time you are 80?
