“Imperial” beers seem to be all the rage these days in the craft beer world, and now the term has migrated over from india pale ales to the land pilsners. Karl Strauss Brewing Company‘s entry into the market of brews heavy in Bavarian ingredients and Moravian malts is their Whistler Imperial Pils. This beer pours a golden straw with a quarter inch foam head and plenty of retention. Noble Saaz hops, with their mild, earthy notes and spicy after finish are balanced out by a sweet, malty backbone. A slightly toasted mouthfeel finishes dry, crisp and clean. Whistler Imperial Pils is yet another stellar addition to the brewery’s Coastal Reserve Series. The taste of Whistler Pils will be ringin’ in my head for days… much like the buoy it is name after.
