Distribution Regrets

My great-grandfather was a beer and produce distributor in Houston after Repeal, selling several locally produced beers, including Lone Star, Pearl and Shiner. In my office I have a newspaper clipping at the time of an Anheuser-Busch executive who visited him in a company plane to talk about distributing Budweiser in Houston. “Why on earth would I want to sell a beer from St. Louis in Houston?” he asked, according to family legend. He carried the brand briefly but eventually let i to, much to my family’s regret today.
