The Scratch and Sniff Guide to Beer: A Beer Lover’s Companion

Given how critical the sense of smell is to enjoying beer, it’s surprising it took this long for such a book to hit the market. But it’s here, complete with scratch-and-sniff stickers for everything from the obvious (hops) to the more obscure (demerara sugar). The 10 stickers actually make up a small portion of the book, sprinkled throughout sections on history, ingredients and beer styles. There are also quizzes, puzzles and other interactive components. The design is a little boisterous, but the text itself is quite thoughtful and well-researched. Yes, it’s fun, but you just might learn something, too. —Daniel Hartis
