(Press Release)

DOWNINGTOWN, PA—Victory Brewing Co. (Victory) is pleased to announce 1337 Ale, a special release brew, is now available along the East Coast. Timed around Victory’s 18th anniversary, 1337 Ale is a throwback recipe from co-founders Bill Covaleski and Ron Barchet’s early days as homebrewers and salutes the legislation that legalized homebrewing.

Signed into law in 35 years ago, H.R. 1337 made homebrewed beer for personal or family use exempt from taxation and ignited a movement that led to the birth of the thriving craft beer industry. At that time, Bill and Ron were more focused on street hockey and Star Wars than hops.  Fast-forward six years, armed with a homebrew kit, the pair developed a passion for the hobby that would lead them to abandon their corporate jobs to pursue the craft and eventually start Victory Brewing Company.

As Victory’s second full-time production brewery in Parkesburg, Pa. becomes fully operational and construction begins on a second brewpub in Kennett Square, this limited and commemorative ale, packaged in 22 oz. bottles and kegs, also celebrates the brewery’s future. The suggested retail price for a 22 oz. bottle is approximately $4.99 depending on location. Use Victory’s Beerfinder to discover a nearby location, or download the free Victory Mobile app for Android or iPhone.

“Thankfully, 1337 Ale has more maturity and complexity than Ron and I did as 16-year olds,” laughs President and Brewmaster, Covaleski. “The throwback recipe took us on a nice walk down Memory Lane, while at the same time, we are so excited to celebrate the next phase of our journey and hope our fans have enjoyed the ride as much as we have.”
