About Sam Zermeño

Sam Zermeño  is the founder/head brewer/co-owner of Brujos Brewing based in Portland, OR. He was born in Tijuana, Mexico and raised in Southern California.

He has been brewing professionally since 2016 and Started as an assistant brewer at Black Market Brewing in Temecula, California. He was also lead brewer at Great Notion for nearly three years, all during the Pandemic.

His last job was at Living Haüs Beer where he brewed for approximately 10 months before he decided to take the leap and open Brujos Brewing.

Brujos has always been his passion project since its inception in 2014 and it wasn’t until last year when he decided it was time to take it to the next level. He acquired an existing brewery in August of 2023 that went out of business and the place was pretty much as turn key as turn key can be.

The Grand Opening is scheduled for March 2, 2024.

Whether the groundhog saw his shadow or not, this is the time to look at green teas for Spring beer rollouts. Firsd Tea’s hyson green tea provides layers of green, vegetal sweetness and a keen roasty note that pops as a standalone addition or a compliment to tropical fruit. Remember: not all green teas are created equal, and using the wrong green tea in your brew can yield dull, flat flavors. Firsd Tea’s hyson green tea has spring green tea character and soft sweetness.
