Harpoon-Take-5-Session-IPA(Press Release)

BOSTON—Harpoon Take 5 Session IPA, the new year-round release from the Harpoon Brewery, is now available in bottles and cans. Harpoon first introduced Take 5 to a wider audience on draft at the Brewery’s annual summer festival, HarpoonFest, on May 15th, followed by a draft only release at select accounts. Last week Harpoon Take 5 was packaged in bottles and cans and is now shipping out for distribution to all of Harpoon’s markets.

“We couldn’t be more excited to get Take 5 out in bottles and cans. We’ve been looking forward to this moment for a long time and, especially given how well the beer has been received on draft, we are anxious to get it out to more beer lovers in our markets,” says Dan Kenary, Harpoon CEO and Co-Founder. “With its crisp hop aroma balanced by a nice malt body, Take 5 is a great beer for any time, every occasion. I’m very happy it’s ready for the summer – I’ve already allotted most of my cooler space for it.”

Harpoon Take 5 Session IPA was first brewed on the Harpoon’s 10-barrel system in 2014. With each pilot batch the recipe was tweaked until the desired balance between hop aroma and malt character was achieved. This final version of Harpoon Take 5 begins with a vibrant citrus and pine hop aroma from Simcoe, Amarillo, and Citra hops and follows through with a sturdy malt profile from the combination of Pale, Vienna, Carapils, and English Amber malts. With a 4.3% ABV and 43 IBUs, Harpoon Take 5 is meant for spontaneous moments, meeting up with friends and taking a break for fun.

About the Harpoon Brewery:
The Harpoon Brewery was founded by beer lovers Dan Kenary, Rich Doyle, and George Ligeti.  In 1986 Harpoon was issued Brewing Permit #001 by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, since it was the first brewery to brew commercially in Boston after a dormant period of about 25 years.  Harpoon’s line of craft beer features its award winning IPA and UFO White beers, along with special seasonal selections. In 2000 Harpoon purchased a second brewery in Windsor, VT, making Harpoon the 15th largest craft brewer in the US.  Harpoon has since introduced the limited batch 100 Barrel Series and the as well as the all-natural Harpoon Craft Cider made from freshly pressed apples.  In August 2014 Harpoon became an employee-owned company.
