DURHAM, NC—All About Beer Magazine has hired award-winning beer writer and editor Ken Weaver to be the magazine’s beer editor. He is the first beer editor in the magazine’s 35-year history.
Weaver will oversee beer curation and content in its myriad forms for All About Beer Magazine, allaboutbeer.com and the World Beer Festivals.
“Ken has his finger on the pulse of today’s beer releases,” said All About Beer President & Publisher Chris Rice. “His experience and keen eye will ensure a more diverse selection of beers make it into our magazine and allaboutbeer.com to give readers a complete beer experience. Attendees of our World Beer Festivals will benefit from his expertise in curating a diverse beer list that includes established and emerging brands.”
Weaver, who is based in Petaluma, CA, previously served as editor in chief of RateBeer Weekly. He also serves as a regular contributor to FSR Magazine, focusing on improving beer’s presence in the full-service restaurant industry; columnist and reviewer for the Rare Beer Club; and publisher of his beer release newsletter 3 Beer Island. His first book, The Northern California Craft Beer Guide, was named a finalist for an NCIBA Book of the Year Award. In 2013, Weaver earned first-place honors in the North American Guild of Beer Writers’ contest in the Best Beer and Food Writing category.
Weaver joins New York City-based editor John Holl, San Francisco-based managing editor Jon Page, and art director Peter Johnstone on the All About Beer editorial staff, and will coordinate beer reviews and tastings.
“We’ve admired and, at times, envied Ken’s work from afar,” said Holl. “We’re excited to have him as part of our growing and award-winning editorial team.”
