(Press Release)
SANTA FE, NM—Outside Magazine, New Mexico Brewers Guild and Cycle Santa Fe have combined resources to build a new form of outdoor festival aimed at the active lifestyle tourist who is seeking the balance between adventure and sophistication, recreation and relaxation, living healthy and living happy. Outside Bike & Brew Festival, scheduled for May 16-18, 2014 in Santa Fe, is a handcrafted event that blends a variety of rigorous biking activities with beautiful scenery and delicious craft beer in the cultural capital of the Rocky Mountains.
“We planned this event to coincide with National Bike to Work Week and American Craft Beer Week,” says Christopher Goblet, event director. “Centering all the festivities in Santa Fe’s Railyard District makes it easily accessible by bike from any part of town.”
Event Highlights:
Friday, May 16 –Friday evening officially kicks off the festival with a craft beer pavilion, bike expo, music stage, food trucks, live art demonstrations and a bike beauty pageant complete with a pedi-cab mobile mariachi band.
Saturday, May 17 –Guided rides for all ages and abilities are planned. Primary trailheads will feature demo bikes and pro clinics for all skill levels. For the leisure bicyclist we have the Tour de Brewer, a guided ride that stops at three local craft breweries where brew masters will share the basics of how to brew and taste beer. A number of craft beer dinners will take place at signature restaurants, for which reservations are required. The evening entertainment includes a bike-in movie and The Old 97s taking over the Santa Fe Sol stage.
Sunday, May 18 – The weekend culminates with the Santa Fe Century, a 100-mile bike ride that attracts 3,000 riders for a demanding tour of beautiful high desert landscape. For the serious athlete, the Gran Fondo Santa Fe offers competitive racing to test one’s abilities. The less adventurous can ride their bikes into Downtown Santa Fe for a lively Sunday at the Grand Opening of Marble Brewery or sit back as a spectator for the BMX Dirt Jam & Jump at La Tierra.
Outside Bike & Brew Festival website will launch on March 14, with a complete list of events, ride registration, event tickets, trail maps, hotels, beer dinners and registration for a chance to win a three-night stay at Hotel Santa Fe and a bespoke bike by O’Leary Built Bicycles.
