What kind of year has it been? For the brewing industry it has meant supply chain issues, rising costs, and a focus on beverages outside of beer.
To sum up the year and bring some (hopefully) good cheer to beer drinkers around the globe the Drink Beer, Think Beer podcast brought together some of the very best writers to share what they learned over the last 12 months and to look ahead to 2023.

Carla Lauter is a freelance beer writer covering the industry since debuting her original blog, “The Beer Babe” in 2007. Since then she’s been published in national beer journals and worked as a regular columnist for Maine Today, The Press Herald and The Bollard – all out of Portland Maine. You can find her current writing in Beer & Weed Magazine, a monthly publication spotlighting the beer and cannabis industry in Maine and beyond. Throughout her beer writing career, Carla has also been a vocal advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion in the craft beer space.
Melissa Cole is a journalist, author of five books, including her latest The Ultimate Book of Craft Beer, international judge, and hater of John Holl around the time of Celebration’s release.
Christopher Shepard writes and edits, follows trends and analyzes data for the family of beer industry trade publications from Beer Marketer’s Insights. He’s a Senior Editor of craft-focused newsletter Craft Brew News and editor of Alcohol Issues INSIGHTS, covering industry environmental, social and governance issues alongside alcohol policy and science. He writes poetry, dances and hikes near his home in the suburbs of New York City.
